What could you expect by listening to your parents telling you: “We have to move away to another country”? Can you get prepared for something like that? It is really hard to be ready for the big change of leaving our confortable and familiar life. Normally, your close friends don’t know how to help you with things they haven’t experienced before, things that are totally unknown for them. When you become an immigrant, especially if you are young, you don’t feel you are receiving enough advices and help from others, you usually feel like you are alone. Young immigrants are all over the world and although it is a common status is something that requires a lot of strength and a lot of help! In this blog, I want to share my experiences, help others to get more prepared for the moment, because I learned, by my own and I would have loved to listen to some advices before starting this new chapter of my life, before moving.
My name is Clara Lobo, I am a young Venezuelan immigrant who moved to Costa Rica on July 29th of 2014, at that time I was sixteen years old. I want to share my experiences, opinions and different advices with people who will feel connected to this topic, young immigrants all over. I want let you know that you are not alone; there are many people who will support each one of you, each on of us. I want to share my good and bad experiences in this new life, without trying to convince you if it is better to leave or stay. My life changed and I want to help young people that are or will go through this transition to be all set to go over this hard but fun and new adventure.
