Chicago also known as the Windy City is a major city in the US state of Illinois and the seat of Cook County, although some parts of the city stretch into DuPage county. Chicago is known for its history and unique culture which is as a result of its native American influence. There are over 2.7 million people living in the city and being a city with a mega economy, Chicago continues to experience influx of people. Its population is comprised of minor and major ethnic and racial groups that promote diversity in the area and the top three of this ethnic groups are.

White: this is the largest ethnic group in the city as it makes up 45.3% of the total population of Chicago. This statistics is for both Hispanic and non Hispanic whites. The statistics for non-Hispanic whites alone is 31.7%. They are one of the first ethnic groups to inhabit the area after the indigenous residents.

Black: this is the second largest ethnic group in the city. They make up 32% of the city’s population.

Asian: this is a minority group making only 5% of the city’s population. This statistics includes Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Korean, Pakistani, Vietnamese, Japanese and Thai.
