A veteran practitioner of corporate law, Claucio Mashimo possesses expertise in areas such as regulatory and governmental compliance, tax issues, and business strategy. In his most recent position as the Legal and Regulatory Affairs Manager for Brazilian firm Jequiti Cosmetics, Mr. Mashimo supervised a staff of nine professionals. His efforts and staff judicial filings established the firm’s eligibility for R$ 68 million in tax credits with Imposto sobre Circulação de Mercadorias e Serviços, the Brazilian excise tax authority. Furthermore, Claucio Mashimo participated in Jequiti’s budget-analysis process, in addition to providing guidance on regulatory issues pertaining to advertising, safety, and health issues, among others.
From 2000 through 2012, Claucio Mashimo provided legal guidance to Fujifilm’s Brazilian division, Fujifilm do Brazil, Ltda. During his tenure with the firm, Mr. Mashimo rose from serving as a member of its start-up legal team to become the firm’s Legal Manager in 2005. That was followed by a promotion to Legal and Governmental Affairs Manager in 2007 with executive reporting responsibilities in Brazil, Japan, and the United States.
Claucio Mashimo has achieved multiple academic degrees and certifications over the past 16 years. His initial law degree was granted by Faculdade de Direito de São Bernardo do Campo in 1997, and that was followed by a Specialization in Corporate Law at Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP). Subsequently, he earned dual postgraduate degrees in Corporate and Economic Law and Foreign Trade and International Business at Fundação Getúlio Vargas de São Paulo in 2001. Claucio Mashimo then obtained a Masters in Stricto Sensu Commercial Law in 2008 from PUC-SP in 2008, followed by an M.B.A. from Fundação Instituto de Administração, conferred in 2010.
