Hi, I’m Claude—but you can call me Hoss.

I run Borealis Aviation Consulting. I’m a retired USAF Lt. Col., Certified Aircraft Accident Investigator, and an MD-11 pilot, line check airman, progress check airman, simulator instructor, and human factors instructor. I’ve been around aircraft my whole life. I’ve done everything from 500 knots at 5 feet to pretending to blow up my dad’s pickup truck on a training mission—and I’ve actually blown up a few tanks and flown a few prized racehorses along the way. I’ve also flown for the CAP and investigated numerous aircraft incidents and accidents all around America.
