Claudia Carbonell was born in Cali, Colombia and began writing short stories when she was seventeen years old. At nineteen, her writing career officially began after being published in a popular Ecuadorian newspaper called El Meridiano (The Meridian) where she worked as a columnist. She continued on a course of writing and study which led her to the US where she has earned many degrees and awards.
She has never stopped writing and her life work, which is 20 years in the making, is found in an incredible nine-book fantasy series, appropriately named, The Magical Series, written for children and teens. This series contains eight books plus a book of short supplementary stories. The series is rich in themes which the author feels most passionate about such as the human impact on the ecology, especially on her beloved rain forest and the issue of animal cruelty. She also loves to describe the diverse variety fauna and flora, many of which are medicinal and threatened along with the overall living ecology of the forest.
She expands and exposes these themes and dangers to the planet in her stories through the beautiful filter of fantasy, “from the animals’ point of view,” as they strive to survive the destruction and abuse of humans. Of equal impact, is the environmental deterioration and “Man’s” (as he is referred to) ambition which destroys the forests, jungles and contaminates water sources. Make believe fantasy creatures and others created by the author, make their debut through multiple worlds and exalt their messages throughout the series. The author’s sense of humor and unique ‘voice,’ is present on each page of her books. Without doubt, this work is not only entertaining for the young and old alike, but educates the reader in a heart felt manner.
Claudia is also passionate about helping people achieve their goals. She is a clinical hypnotherapist and a life coach and lives in Southern California with her husband, Aaron, her mother, Lola and with her two children nearby: Brigitte, and Andrew Philip, who once in a while share with her their adorable Chihuahua, Zoe.
