Clay Blanton

Augusta, Ga.

After studying computer science and business at Georgia Regents University and earning a degree in Welding at Augusta Technical College, Clay Blanton began studying engineering at Georgia Southern University, where he is currently enrolled. He maintained a 4.0 GPA for the fall 2013 semester, earning an invitation to Tau Beta Pi, which is dedicated to representing the entire engineering profession. Prior to enrolling in Georgia Southern University, Clay Blanton worked in the IT department at Georgia Bank and Trust, also in Augusta, GA, where he installed Windows programs and drivers, handled network security, and replaced computers and printers.

When he is not studying or working, Clayton Blanton enjoys a variety of hobbies, such as wakeboarding and snowboarding, both of which he has been doing since the age of 13. He also enjoys farming, playing video games, and fishing, which he has enjoyed since he was just three years old. He is very interested in anything having to do with cars and trucks. He enjoys fixing and modifying different engines, and also installing and improving car stereo systems. Mr. Blanton is also committed to his community and often volunteers at local food banks and at Mistletoe State Park. Further, he participated in a youth mission trip to help people in need in Miami and Philadelphia. He has also been a vital resource in his family’s horse rescue and sanctuary. He has contributed much of his time by helping to repair fences, build shelters for the animals, and clean up after a large barn fire.
