Clayton Rives is the Associate Director of the National Incident Management Systems and Advanced Technologies (NIMSAT) Institute at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Rives oversees the research, development, and outreach for NIMSAT. Rives has established himself as a state leader in the first responder community with experience in areas of homeland security, emergency management, and criminal justice with specialized expertise in program development, critical infrastructure protection, cyber and information security, computer forensics, criminal investigations, grant management, and homeland security and emergency management training and exercises.

Rives began his career as a criminal justice professional in 1989, working for the Louisiana State Police in the Bureau of Information and Identification. In 1991, Rives accepted a position with the Governor’s Office, where he was assigned to the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Criminal Justice. He joined the staff of the Louisiana Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General, Investigation Division, in 1994. In 2004, Rives was appointed Deputy Director of the Investigation Division and managed activities of the state-wide investigative, forensic, and support sections.
