Clay Tomerlin

Hello there! I'm Clay. I live in San Antonio with my wonderful wife, two daughters, a dog, and a fish.

Currently, I primarily develop solutions for the Force.com platform and ecosystem.

My love for IT started at a very young age, and I had my first successful (1000+ unique visitors a month) website at the age of 12. It was a Zelda64 fansite (which I am very proud of). Once I discovered that I was pretty good at the code side (HTML,Javascript,CSS) and the user experience piece - I went out on my own to start doing sites for small businesses and local musicians. Equipping myself with notepad (no Frontpage!), and a one sheet flyer, I told friends and family and actually went door-to-door. This also led to me building out custom PC rigs and supporting networks and security/anti-virus for mechanic shops and other small businesses in the area. I continued that until I was about 17.

Small business is important to me, and recently I was small business owner for over 5 years, having co-founded and developed the entirity of Cenergize (www.cenergize.com) - the premier Energy Efficiency solutions in South Texas. We provide whole-house retrofit solutions to scientifically solve comfort, cost, and conservation problems.

I loved Cenergize, and am very proud of everything we did, but when my first daughter came along - things changed. I decided I wanted to get back to where my heart was, technology, and specifically development. It was a very difficult transition, and took countless late-night hours to learn and become up to date on newer languages, design patterns, and methods - but it has been so worth it.

My hobbies include photography, outdoor actvities like backpacking and spelunking, writing, programming, woodworking, electronics, drumming, tough muddering, and more. My projects and solutions really showcase my experience and skillset.
