Clayton Nicholls
I have worked in Film and TV since 1997 and before that as an Independent film maker. I cover all aspects of technical and creative, from gaffa to Cinematographer, Producer, Director and Editor. I have spent the last decade providing production and post-production services to a wide range of clients, including those that require great sensitivity and discretion for non-public broadcast media. This has seen me working with the MOD and clients like Crown Media. I have also undertaken more mainstream post production projects for National Geographic and BskyB.
Post-production has been my specialist area for many years and will continue to be. I have always used Avid and facilitate multi formats for post, from HDCAM to file based tapeless workflow. CGI is something I’m always pushing to progress with further as high graphic content is a must for professional productions. No requirement is out of reach and Obsidian has close working relationships with reputable CGI houses. Obsidian can facilitate your requirement and see the process through from concept to delivery.
The recent rise of the HDSLR as an economical yet powerful film-like production tool has opened my eyes to new possibilities and returned me to my roots as an independent film maker. I am writing scripts for both features and shorts so check out my Vimeo page and Twitter feed for updates on upcoming productions. I have experience with most all film and video cameras and systems enabling me to truly tailor my skill set to your requirements. Obsidian is working in partnership with HLB Media on many productions and projects, our partnership is part of the service I provide.
So what’s in stall from this point onwards? A good question! I’m looking to grow Obsidian and expand my client base to include commercials, advertising and music videos whilst also adding the “film” touch to them all to achieve an unprecedented production value. For examples of the work I’ve done, visit my Showreel.
