Kate A. Cassidy

I'm Kate Cassidy, and I recently graduated from the College Student Personnel Program at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island. Currently, I am looking for jobs in Housing and Residential Life or First Year Programs. I am open to new experiences and places, and do not plan on limiting my search to a particular area. However, I am primarily looking at small or medium, liberal arts or religiously affiliated institutions. At the end of the day, I am looking for the right fit; a community to call home, where I can continue doing what I love.

While I was a Graduate Assistant Hall Director, I supervised an RA staff of 11 and helped to maintain an upperclassmen residence hall in which 400+ students reside. In addition to my assistantship, I also interned at Connecticut College in the office of Student Wellness and Alcohol/ Drug Education. I headed an assessment project for the office regarding learning outcomes for some of their peer education programs.

Last summer, I completed a summer internship at the University of North Texas with their office of Orientation and Transition Programs. While at UNT, I assisted with their summer Freshman and Transfer Orientation programs, but my main job was working on their First Flight Leader application and hiring process. I absolutely loved my experience there, and would love to head back to Texas soon!

During my undergraduate career at the College of the Holy Cross, I was a Resident Assistant for two years before becoming a Student Resident Director. While at HC, I helped to lead and co-chair a workshop on reflection and journaling and its importance in our lives today. Upon graduation, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree focused in sociology and studio art. Going to Holy Cross and being involved on campus has really given me the opportunity to embrace my skills of positivity, optimism, communication and listening.

In my spare time, I love making cards and writing letters; letting people know how much they mean to me is an important aspect of my life. I am so thankful for all my friends, mentors and supervisors who have helped me to get where I am today. Plus, it helps me to relax and unwind- and in today's busy society, who doesn't need a moment or two to themselves?
