Cleon Papadopoulos

Cleon Papadopoulos was born and rasied in Athens, Greece, and spent the majority of his career working in the financial industry in London. After earning his high school diploma, Mr. Papadopoulos moved to Bristol in 1980 to study for an engineering degree from the University of Bristol. He went on to complete a masters in Operations and Research with the London School of Economics and Political Science.

After graduating from LSE, Mr. Papadopoulos worked for Seascope Insurance Services in London for a year. He then completed his miltary service in Greece and upon discharge, he enrolled at the University of Pennslyvania in Philadelphia and established a more solid basis in finance and marketing with an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. Mr. Papadopoulos would go on to spend 25 years as a high ranking officer for various financial institutions.

Mr. Papadopoulos began his career as an Interest and Derivatives Trader with Security Pacific Services in London for a Bank in London. He was able to build on that experience when he was appointed director of the third largest Swiss bank, Swiss Bank Corporation (SBC). Throughout the 1990s, SBC switched their focus to investment banking. In 1995, a merger with S. G. Warburg and Company, a prominent British invesment firm, madeMr. Papadopoulos executive director in the new entity, SBC Warburg. He retained the same position during an even larger merger with Union Bank of Switzerland in 1998, which created one of the largest banks in the world, UBS AG.

After 2002, Cleon Papadopoulos upon his return to Athens worked as a financial advisor until he accepted a position as Chairman and CEO of Hellenic Postbank in 2009. During that time he also served on the board for a number of Athens financial institutions including Hellenic Bank Association, Hellenic Post, and T Banks SA. In 2013, Mr. Papadopoulos returned to London and became director for Alfa Ltd, in 2015.

Mr. Papadopoulos currently lives in London. When he isn't working, he spends time with his family. Mr. Papadopoulos also stays fit by running playing tennis in a senior league
