Cletus Ajibade
Technology Advocate, Social Entrepreneur, and Software Engineer in Lagos, Nigeria
I'm a tech advocate, social entrepreneur and software engineer; co-founder of Babymigo.com, and hosted by President Barack Obama at GES2016 in Stanford University, California.
From my early days, I always wanted to know how things work. I fabricated toy cars from scrap metals, dismantled electronic devices, yes, I did it all. I have always wanted to become an Engineer, even though family wanted me to study medicine.
The passion for science and technology grew stronger in me as the years went by. I studied science in high school. I made some very good friends and graduated top in my class with some honours and leadership roles: I was Head Boy (Senior Prefect); President of JETS Club; President of Teens Church; and School Fellowship Executive Member. My passion for writing was also brought to limelight in THE SWORD, an annual magazine of the Teens Church. I regularly spoke at events giving motivational and success talks to teenagers and others alike. My volunteering skills were also brought to bear as I regularly organized and coordinated tutorial classes for students preparing for senior secondary school exams.
After high school, internet and mobile technology boom began in the country. This led to my studying Object Oriented Application Development at NIIT, Lagos. This decision began my journey into the exciting world of programming and software development. I got hooked to information technology afterwards. I fell in love with it, and later went on to study Computer Science and Engineering at the university.
At the university, I explored the world of ICT further, developed a few software projects, made good friends, won series of awards and scholarship, graduated top in the Faculty of Engineering with a First Class Honours result, founded CodeHouse Africa, started a blog, etc.
Fast forward to today at Babymigo, we are disrupting the infant and maternal health industry by solving the problem of mortality among women and children in Africa using mobile tech. No woman should die during pregnancy, with technology we can make this happen.
I have passion for Entrepreneurship, Education, Mobile and Information Technology. I believe Africa has the needed manpower to solve her problems if the youths are empowered through proper education and training. I love mathematical puzzles and was once profiled as a Visual Mathematician because of my ability to process visual-spatial and mathematical information.
