With a fish, under the hot sun in Charleston, South Carolina, escaping from the busy world going on around me. When I was little my dad and Grandfather taught me how to fish. I fell in love. It is a way to get away from the craziness of life and slow down. There is a relaxing feeling about being on the water just waiting and hoping for a big fish to bite your line. Some days are great, plentiful with fish and some days are slow with nothing but a twig and some weeds. I enjoy fishing not just because I necessarily love to fish but it's a way I am able to connect with my grandparents. I was to spend summers with them and do nothing but fish in the backcountry of Colorado. There was a time in Colorado I was on this stream way out in the backcountry, at least 30-40 miles from a paved road. I look up and across the river is a mountain lion staring at me. I locked eyes with the mountain lion for what felt like a long time. It suddenly turned and vanished into the thick brush surrounding us. This frightened me at the time. I was wondering how long it had been standing there or how long it could have been stalking me. Luckily it just turned into a cool story. Fishing has been able to create so many memories with friends and family I will cherish forever.
