Clio Bravo
Student, music producer, and sound engineer in Manila, Philippines
Music has always helped me communicate my emotions and thoughts. Sometimes, I couldn't express my feelings with words, but music did. Every music unites people, whether it's through melody, words, or simply its rhythm. Music helps me comprehend my own emotions and other times; it serves as an escape. The best thing about it is sharing it with others and seeing how it relates with them. It’s an amazing feeling to know that the music I made can mean something to someone else and that’s what makes it so special. Music isn’t just for me—it’s a way to reach people, to inspire, and to tell a story that words alone can’t.
Ever since I was a kid, I enjoyed playing music with my friends and family. That passion only grew stronger as I got older, and now music is a huge part of who I am. I like breaking down songs to figure out how they were made or experimenting with different effects on my DAW, and that's when I knew I wanted to do music production and sound engineering. As a 4th-year Music Technology student at the University of Santo Tomas, I'm learning and improving to bring my ideas to life because music has always been a big part of my life, whether I’m creating it or just listening.
Aside from creative production side, I'm also really into mixing, mastering, and making sure every recording sounds great. I enjoy adjusting the mix in real-time and making sure everything sounds perfect so the audience gets the best experience. Working with singers and instrumentalists is very enjoyable. Every musician has their own individual sound, and I'm happy to help them bring it to life on stage. Collaborating with them allows me to be a part of creating something special at the moment. The thrill of hearing everything come together, live and unfiltered, is one of the most fulfilling moments of being a sound engineer.
I’m very lucky because my family has always supported me in pursuing music. There’s always something new to learn in music. Don’t be afraid to try new things and make mistakes—great ideas can come from unexpected moments. Keep learning and creating because music keeps changing. New trends, technologies, and styles will always grow, so staying open to change is important.
