Mrs. Stewart holds several professional certifications and designations in the State of Illinois: Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Certified School Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor. She coined the phrase that is the guiding principle of CLS Comprehensive Services: “The USE of Knowledge is Power” and is committed to assist clients in using the knowledge they gain to create the life they desire and deserve!

As a counselor, I embrace the totality of learning by assisting clients in developing interpersonal skills, coping strategies, and a myriad of other skills while navigating through the life process. It is my role to build upon learning by providing clients with an outlet to be able to express their feelings, fears, triumphs, and concerns in a safe and caring environment. This approach is based on the assumption that people make healthy choices when they are able to focus constructively on their options. The assistance I provide is based on increasing one’s awareness of options, developing personal and social resources to manage one’s emotional life, and increasing one’s overall sense of psychological well-being as an individual within social relationships.

Agents of change are people, situations and events that propel a person into exploring thoughts and behaviors that are in need of adjustment. The agents can be both positive and negative, internally driven, or externally focused. Clients typically don’t come to counseling because they are satisfied with the way things are. They seek treatment because there is something in their life that needs to change, and they need assistance in the process. It is my professional goal as a counselor to initially be that change agent for them, while guiding them on their journey and teaching them how to be change agents in their own lives.
