In my life I have experienced personal moments of light and darkness. It is through these moments of triumph and defeat that I was able to learn some valuable lifelong lessons. The moment I found out that I was accepted into the University of Georgia was an occasion of greatness. This acceptance taught me that I have a bright future ahead of me and that I can do anything I set my mind to. I am a two time tennis state champion. I have played tennis for fifteen years. Playing this sport has been one of the hardest things I have every done, mostly being a solo sport. Tennis taught me how to shine in moments of light and darkness. it is quite easy to become upset with oneself during a tennis match because you are out there on the court by yourself. Tennis has taught me to pick myself up and keep going whether I am experiencing a moment of light or a moment of darkness. Being from a divorced family has certainly shed moments of darkness on particular aspects of my life. Even though my parent’s separation has been an occasion of darkness for my brother and me, I have learned to accept it and it has taught me that someone out there has it worse than I do. I have also learned that any experience, even a bad one, can be turned into something great! It is with everything I have gone through, as a child and teenager, that has allowed for the creation of the positive and hard working individual that I am today, to grow and flourish in my own skin. These select moments of light and darkness have helped me strive for and achieve greatness in everything I do. A positive attitude through every aspect of life can turn a moment of light brighter and an occasion of darkness into something much more brilliant.
