Colleen McKinney
Austin, TX
I received my MSW in May 2014, and passed the Texas state licensing exam to become a LMSW. Unlike most social workers, I'm involved in the macro side of things as a Mental Health Policy Fellow with the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers. For the next two years, I'll be researching and developing policy that helps better the lives of social workers and their clients, as well as the profession as a whole.
Before coming to NASW/Texas, I worked in the Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence field for over two years as a peer advocate. I am an advocate for human and civil rights, more equal distribution of wealth, elimination of violence against women (and all people), inclusive environments, the right of all people to engage in collective bargaining, reproductive justice, transparent corporate supply chains, the Oxford comma, and tacos all day, every day.
If you'd like to talk shop, feel free to email me. You might get a picture of the cutest pug ever as a thank you. Isn't that motivation enough?
