Major: Bakery Science, Chemistry, and Spanish

Minor: International Agriculture

Process of deciding on a major: Initially I thought that I was going to attend culinary school. However, after taking some classes with chefs experienced in the industry and visiting multiple culinary schools, I decided that being a chef was not for me. Along with my passion for food had also come a strong passion for science. So I decided to mash my two passions into one, and I started to look into schools with food science/culinary science degrees. Even with this search I was finding no luck and a lack of fulfillment. One day when I was talking with my uncle we began to talk about schools I had looked into attending. I told him my search and he suggested that I try looking at K-State since they have a rather renowned bakery science program. Once I visited, I fell in love and have continued to enjoy my classes and experiences thus far.

Why students should come to ACIC: The Academic and Career Information Center is a marvelous resource for students who are struggling to find a career/major that fully suits them. What we choose to study in college will ultimately be what we do for the rest of our lives, so it is vital for students to find the right major for them. At ACIC we can help students with the stressful process of deciding a major. We will always strive do our best to make sure that the student finds a major that suits them and helps them achieve their dreams.

How ACIC has helped me: Through ACIC I have had the opportunity to take multiple different assessments that gauge where my interests and priorities lie. With the results from these tests, I was then able to see what jobs existed in the world that used my interests and related to me. This provided me with confidence that I was heading in the right direction to achieve my goals and reach my dream job.

Interests and involvement on campus: I am involved in many different clubs and organizations on campus. Since I am a bakery science major, I joined the bakery science club which has been an absolute blast. I am also involved in Alpha Zeta (college of agriculture professional fraternity), Alpha Mu (grain science honorary society), Phi Eta Sigma (freshman honorary), College of Agriculture Ambassadors, and St. Issidore's Catholic Student Center Ambassadors.

Top strength and how it is used at ACIC: My top strength is positivity
