PHASE I --> LAWYER

My life as a lawyer began more than a decade ago (yup, it's been that long) at the Washington, DC office of an international law firm. I had a great time working on private equity deals, regulatory issues, and intellectual property matters (my favorite). After firm life, I became a government regulator. That was very cool, especially when I managed the electronic discovery team for a pretty big & quite interesting investigation. The next stop on my legal career journey was assistant general counsel and assistant secretary for a publicly-traded luxury brand. That was a great job and it's where I fell in love with branding, advertising, and marketing.

PHASE II - LAWYERPRENUER

Why lawyerpreneur? Because ... once a lawyer, always a lawyer. :-)

In 2009, I transitioned from part-time entrepreneur to full-time business owner with the launch of my branding, social media, and digital communications firm - UpwardAction®. It's where I help clients leverage the power of the Internet to create sustainable momentum and build profitable brands. More specifically, we help clients build D.E.E.P. brands that are Defined ... Empowered ... Expandable ... and Protected. The "protection" part is where my legal background is really handy.

I speak at conferences and create training programs about personal branding, social media marketing, diversity in the law, and strategies for creating sustainable momentum. FUN!
