"Go west young man" repeated in my head as I finished college in Ohio. Past trips to Breckenridge and Steamboat gave me a taste of something needing further exploration. Ski bum doesn't quite describe what I found. I moved to Breck and immersed myself in mountain powder and everything snow-sliding. Mountain Waves led me to the heart of Colorado's snowboard culture and I forever cured myself of the eastward material gaze. One winter season quickly became two... then three. I had amazing experiences, met incredible, world-class people and grew to love the mountains beyond just winter.

Yet, for all their grandeur, what mountain tourist towns have in height they lack in depth. Transience inevitably abounds. Relationships just don't seem to flourish the way they should. Shared experiences are plenty but like a pine tree struggling to root atop granite, friendships don't get the nourishment they need to truly thrive. A nagging feeling grows -- of being too far away from old friends and family. I'll always love the mountains of Colorado but there came a time when I had to break out of my comfort zone and chase greater aspirations. Denver might not sound too far removed but trust me, it's further from the essence of the mountains than some weekend warrior can ever know.

Nowadays I'm pursuing what was once only a distant dream. I hope to soon be able to say with confidence... always follow your dreams. It's been painfully slow at times but I'm progressing and we'll see how it all turns out. No one ever seems to talk about how much risk and work dreams can entail! But enough about me. I want to hear about you.

What can I build for you? If you're here that probably means we've met and you have an interest in my art. Let's help each other smile by collaborating on a metal/wood scultptural element for your near future...
