Cody Lendon Mullens, MD MPH

Dr. Cody Mullens was born and raised in Weirton, West Virginia and spent the majority of his life in WV prior to relocating to Ann Arbor for his surgical training.

Cody is a PGY4 general surgery resident at the University of Michigan. He has completed the first three years of his clinical training in general surgery and is currently enrolled in his first of two years of academic development time.

As an ADT resident, Cody is a fellow in the National Clinician Scholars Program at UM. His primary research interests include understanding and working to improve access, quality, and costs of surgical care for rural patient populations in the United States. As a health services researcher, Cody's recent work has been published in JAMA, The Journal of Rural Health, JAMA Network Open, JAMA Surgery, and Annals of Surgery.

In addition to his research efforts during ADT, Cody serves as a Creative Director at Annals of Surgery, a visual abstract editor at JAMA Network, a surgical education fellow with Behind the Knife, and is a committee member on the Advisory Council for Rural Surgery at the American College of Surgeons.

Clinically, Cody is interested in pursuing transplant/HPB surgery or trauma/acute care surgery.

Outside of his professional work, Cody is a marathoner and triathlete and enjoys spending time at home and traveling with his wife, Liz (and their two golden retrievers - Lucy and Beau).
