Colin Maxwell
Artist, Composer, and Serial Entrepreneur in Austria
Colin Maxwell received his first profound artistic education at the Adalbert Stifter Gymnasium (explicit focal point on music and visual arts) and at the Anton Bruckner Private-University in Linz - Austria. He later studied electroacoustic music, traditional music composition and experimental music at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna (today: University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna), has earned a degree in composition, music theory and instrumentation at the Prayner Conservatory Vienna (under composer Wolfram Wagner), earned a BA in musicology, dramatic theory, film science, communication science and journalism at the University of Vienna ( full accreditation in Washington D.C., USA in 1998 )
His close artistic and personal relationship with world renowned composer Hans Werner Henze who, from 1992 onward had patronized, mentored and cared for Colin Maxwell like a real father (Marino-IT, Munich-DE, Vienna-AT) had created a solid foundation of artistic craftsmanship, discipline and philosophy of aesthetics which allowed Maxwell to establish his emotional expressiveness and artistic originality in early life.
Colin Maxwell has won numerous international competitions, has earned cultural awards, received government grants for his artistic achievements and registered various commissioned works early at young age. After his early success as a composer and int. exhibiting fine artist, he left Austria for a period of over 17 years in 1996 and emigrated to the USA [first California and Hawaii (US), later British Columbia, (CA)] where he additionally became an entrepreneur owning several businesses in the field of target marketing, branding and multimedia advertising, predominantly serving the sectors of retail and distribution, transport, communication and finance throughout North America.
Maxwell has been studying and collaborating with international acclaimed artists such as Hans Werner Henze, Kurt Schwertsik, Dieter Kaufmann, Klaus Huber, Wolfram Wagner, Tamas Ungvary, Robert Rauschenberg, Theophilus Brown, Paul Wonner and Mike Kelley...
Maxwell´s visual art has been collected and displayed in Europe, USA, Canada, UK, Asia and Australia.
His music compositions have been performed and broadcast globally.
