Colin Hindson

County Durham

The bulk of my career has been in the plant hire/forklift industry. I've been working in this industry since 1992 and have a wealth of experience on various types of machines.

Since 2001 I have been a registered Thorough Examinations Engineer becoming a Thorough Examinations Manager in 2005. During my time with my most recent forklift company, posts varied from Site Engineer to Service Manager in charge of 6 engineers and the workshop. While with this company I passed my examinations to become a forklift instructor. I am registered with RTITB and NPORS to train on a variety of machines.

In July 2007 I started my own business as a machine operator trainer and continued with some success until June 2011. While being self employed I completed my A1 Assessors Qualification. After that, I started work Systems Training as a forklift instructor both in center and on site where I renewed my RTITB instructors badges. My NPORS accreditation has ben running since 2007. My most recent employment was Health and Safety Training working as an Instructor/Assessor.

Currently, I'm looking to branch out into the haulage industry. I have a drivers digi card and have experience of driving 7.5 ton wagons delivering bar requisites and also single vehicle deliveries. Due to my varied work history I am an experienced van driver and have a clean drivers license.

In my spare time I am a keen golfer and enjoy being out mountain biking. One of my proudest achievements was completing the 'Coast To Coast' in Sept 2012 (142 miles). I am a long time motorcyclist, passing my advanced drivers test in 1990. I do consider myself fit and active and when not golfing or cycling I have a large garden plot which I tend.

I am a committed worker who can work on my own or within a team and like to see things through to completion. My experience as a manager has given me the opportunity to see things from both sides of the table and i understand the needs of the workforce and management alike. As an instructor I have learned to communicate at different levels, I am eager to return to the workplace and feel I would be an strong asset to any company.
