Colin Jackson
Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
My name is Colin Jackson. I’m a full time student currently attending Durham College studying Digital Photography. I am also a part-time graphic designer working on the side. I’ve studied photography for approximately 4 years, specializing in landscape and portrait photography. I’ve done photo shoots primarily for school so I can build a portfolio for later dates. My only professional experience I have with photography is doing photo shoots for family members and selling some pictures to postcard companies. I originally got into photography because I loved seeing vast areas that looked beautiful and wanted a way to keep that moment forever, so I started taking pictures on a little disposable camera. I started studying photography when I was in grade 10 at Eastdale C.V.I. I was top of my class and had a photo entered in a contest. I received second place. I do small time graphic design work for small online companies. I worked with an online clothing store that was called Zelonk.com for approximately 4 years making banners and logos for their products and website. They unfortunately were not able to continue business because they did not have enough buyers and had to shut down. I learned graphic design originally because I used to make videos on YouTube and people were always looking for YouTube logos and background pictures. Since the demand at the time was so high for YouTube backgrounds and Logos I was able to do this nearly full-time from home when I was off school. This went on for about 5 years until I got into grade 12 in high school. I am primarily pursuing my career as being a photographer and soon hope to open a studio in downtown Oshawa.
