Why am I on this creative path?

One day, after high school while taking a walk. There was an old lady from across the road who randomly stopped to ask me a question.

“What do you want to do with your life?” she asked. “I hope to study graphic design” I replied. “I wish I had studied graphic design” she said, with sadness on her face.

It was at that moment I realised I had to fight for my goals. I would not wake up one day and see my dreams come to life without the effort.

What makes my heart beat?

Having spent some time trying to discover what would motivate me for rest of my life, I realized I enjoyed helping others bring their ideas and goals to life.

What is a Catalyst?

It is a substance that increases the rate of a reaction without changing itself.

To survive the tough journey, I focused on refining my foundations and designing systems to help get things done.

After working on more than 100+ projects, I have gained experience over 13 years. It has been a pleasure to serve those who have needed my services. In 2010 I graduated 3rd in my class at ZIVA Institute. In the same year, I represented my country at the SABS Design Achievers Awards in South Africa.

In 2013 I volunteered to host the second Adobe Behance Portfolio Review Week in Zimbabwe, which was a great opportunity to learn more about the global creative community. In 2014, I began giving back to the local creative industry as a facilitator at ZIVA Institute. As the journey continued, I was promoted to the role of assistant director at ZIVA in 2017, which has been a great learning curve.

Thank-you to all the amazing people who have helped me on this journey. I cannot thank you enough. All I wanted to do was to pick a path I would enjoy and create a journey worth remembering. I hope you have a chance to do the same.

My name is Colin the Catalyst and I live to stay organized and solve problems through strategy, process and design.
