I was born in Key West, Florida, but I was raised Burnsville, North Carolina since I moved there when I was 3-years-old. I chose East Carolina on the terms that it was about as far away from home as possible while still being able to receive in-state tuition. I've played a variety of sports during my school years: soccer, indoor soccer, tennis, baseball, basketball, track, and cross country. But now that I've gotten older and rather out-of-condition, I play for the men's ecu club volleyball team and do tennis and soccer for intramural. I initially came to ECU to be a German major and studied the language for about two years, but I changed to English Education as I fell in love with teaching. I am highly involved in my church (Covenant) and work with their youth ministry. I haven't decided whether I will stay in North Carolina to begin teaching or go to Liberty University to get my Masters of Divinity so that I can become a youth minister. But, for now, the plan is to get my Secondary English Education license and graduate in May 2012. My internship school is at DH Conley High School and I teach sophomores and seniors!

I'm currently reading Night and After The War to prepare for my Holocaust unit to teach my sophomores. My favorite book is probably Island of the Blue Dophins and my favorite series of books is the Hunger Games.

If you have never read the series, then check it out!
