Col. Michael McGee
Colonel Michael McGee has over twenty years of military experience with the United States Air Force. With extensive operational and leadership experience, he has proven himself to be a uniquely valuable asset. McGee specializes in strategy, tactics, and operations of warfare. He has operational experience in Europe, Korea, Southwest Asia, and the Middle East. Colonel McGee's combat operations include Iraqi Freedom, Proven Force, and Desert Storm. Throughout his military career he has been decorated many times and received major awards.
Colonel McGee was instrumental during Operation Iraqi Freedom. During the ground offensive, he was the air boss for the Air Support Operations Center. Later, he commanded the 4th Expeditionary Air Support Operations Group and was responsible for tactical air control parties.
In 2005, McGee obtained a masters degree in strategic studies from Air University. He finished in the top echelon of his academic class and wrote a thesis entitled "Air-Ground Operations During Operation Iraqi Freedom: Successes, Failures, and Lessons of Air Force and Army Integration." His ideas were developed and employed into the USAF ASOC Concept of Operations and Standard Operating Procedures. They have become a baseline for integrating air and ground efforts for the USAF.
Colonel McGee is now recognized as one of the United States Air Force's premier tacticians. The chief of staff of the USAF stated McGee's tactics and programs were "the most important war fighting effort in the last 10 years." His developments have been very beneficial for future pilots and have allowed the USAF to complete operations in high threat areas.
