Sheunesu Hove
Sheunesu Hove is a Rotary World Peace Fellow Class V graduate from the University of Queensland. After graduating with a Masters degree in International Studies (peace and conflict resolution) in 2008, he went back to Zimbabwe and worked as Director of Programs with the Centre for Peace Initiatives in Africa (CPIA) in Harare. He was responsible for coordinating all the organization's programs, new projects, and all the training. He was also the Program Officer for the National Reconciliation, Social Cohesion and Transitional Justice program. As part of his responsibilities, he spearheaded the regionalization of CPIA programmes and as a result he has visited countries like Botswana, South Africa and Malawi. He was also the programme officer for the National Reconciliation, Social Cohesion and Transitional Justice program. This is a national program aimed at addressing part injustices, national healing, social cohesion and reconciliation. The target group of this programme is the victims and survivors of past atrocities like the 1980s atrocities, election related violence and Operation Murambatsvina (meaning Operation Remove the Filthy). This program works with the grassroots to seek the truth, visit and talk to victims and survivors, hold dialogue workshops where people share their predicaments, experiences and feelings. All these efforts are meant to inform and influence national healing framework that the all inclusive government is putting in place through its three cabinet ministers responsible for national reconciliation.
Since joining CPIA in November 2008, Sheunesu participated in the SADC mediated Zimbabwe Peace Process that resulted in the formation of the all inclusive government. Particularly he was part of the CPIA delegation that attended the crucial Pretoria SADC Summit and the African Union Summit in February, where the timetable for the formation of the all inclusive government in Zimbabwe was put in place. Sheunesu also led a team to monitor the Malawi elections in May 2009. He has also represented CPIA in quite a number of meetings, seminars and conferences, notably Government and Civil Society conferences on constitutional reforms; electoral reforms; and good governance.
