CommYouTer

This is the Swiss Army App of commuters.

Here's what sets it apart from the others:

Offline route search
Get commuting directions even without mobile data connection. With a pre-processed database of GTFS data stored on the smartphone, you have access to thousands of searchable locations and transit routes throughout the city.

Mapless interface
We don't think you need a map to get around the city. You just need good instructions. Let's keep it simple
Note: As of this version, a major overhaul of the search algorithm is pending. It works, but it's very, very slow- a query can take up to 30 minutes.

GPS Trip Recorder
Record your trips for personal use, or for sharing. After all, there are other unmapped modes of transportation, and other useful landmarks that need to be known. There are smart ways of commuting to some places that other people might not know. There are better ways to name the stops and routes. Let's collaborate for better data!

Walk detector
The app can detect whether the user is walking or not. This makes the recording task easier, since the walked paths along the trip will be identified automatically.

Download it here.

Instructions:
1) Download and install the .apk
2) Download transit.data and put it in your phone's SD card root directory.
3) On first run, hit the "Setup" button to create a database. This will take time (around 30 mins).
But you only have to do this once! You can delete the transit.data file afterwards.
