One thing I've noticed about the auto insurance industry these days is the move that Allstate made. They quickly snapped up Esurance because it was a market leader in the insurance world when it comes to appealing to customers looking to purchase insurance policies online. This is a big market, and instead of Allstate simply making its way into the game, it also grabbed a leader to network with.

This speaks volumes about what consumers need to know in order to get the cheapest auto insurance rates. Of course, when you want to compare auto insurance rates, you're also taking a close look at the policies and the company in general, or you should be anyway.

This move has made even the large insurance companies make discounted policies a focal point. How many insurance commercials do you see talking about how they can save you money each year? Do you really buy into all of that?

One thing for sure is it's the companies that are scrambling to get to the top, and so that grouped with the ease of getting quotes online makes for a comfortable market for consumers. All you have to do is sit back and let the insurance companies compete for your business.

When you are getting quotes online, however, you as a consumer do want to be knowledgeable and informed. You don't want to skip over something or not get adequate coverage, and so while doing it yourself is a convenience, make sure you're doing it right.

The insurance companies do offer user-friendly tools and easy to understand forms for quotes, so it shouldn't be a problem. It's just that the insurance world is rather complex, and you need to know your state minimum requirements as well when you want to compare auto insurance rates.
