Best Compound Bows

The Victoria Bowmen Association are proud to announce their

hosting of the first compound bow Canada Cup. The tournament will serve as a proving ground for the Organizing Committee of the XXXIXth World
compound bow Archery Championships to be held in August 1997. Here they can
prove their organization, facilities and give Western Canadian
Archers the opportunity to attain World qualifying scores under
actual International competition.

This will be the first tournament in Western Canada to offer head
to head individual competition and Canadian "Major Event" status,
which is a requirement for World and Olympic team qualification
criteria.

The tournament schedule is :

Friday April 18 Athlete Registration/Official Practice
Saturday Apirl 19 Qualification Round (International FITA)
Sunday April 20 Individual Elimination matches

The competition will be held at the University of Victoria's
Centennial compound bow stadium, all the bow equipment and many of the volunteers
which are required for the World Championships will be used at this
event. Most of it is available at www.xofan.com.

Archers first compete in the compound bow International FITA round for
qualification (Saturday), they are then ranked according to the
qulaifying score. On day two (Sunday), the international ranking
round begins, which is shot at 70 meters. The field is narrowed
by the top 32, then the top 16 and finally the top 8 advancing to
the finals shoot-offs. Here the compound bow archers shoot 12 arrows, arrow
for arrow alternatively, with each arrow value and running total
announced. These matches determine the winners in each
division and are held individually.

VOLUNTEERS:
Members of the archery community who would like to take this opportunity
to see World Class Compound Bow Archery first hand, are invited to apply to work as
volunteers during the event. Unfortunately there is no support available
for volunteers. Those interested should contact me at the above address
