Throughout my life sports have been a major factor in my everyday life. Whether it be playing different sports throughout my childhood or watching them on the T.V. almost every day, I’ve always felt a connection with them. Since I was in 6 grade, I have played lacrosse through my high school and on various travel teams. It was a fantastic way for me to meet some of my closest friends and it gave me a reason to be active on a daily basis. This could be through working out in preparation for the season or just practicing and getting better as a player. As everything in life, my high school lacrosse career had its ups and its downs. At one point, I would go from scoring a goal and feeling on top of the world to sitting the bench and not playing at all during some games. Moments like this would frustrate me and really made it hard to appreciate the sport in which I grew up loving but they helped mold me into the person I am to this day. All of the pain and struggle that lacrosse caused me ended up helping me in the long run, this sport, which I always saw as “just something to do”, ended up teaching me a lot of valuable lessons in my life. It showed me how to face adversary, taught me that no matter what you do, some people just won’t like you and there is nothing wrong with that, and also showed me how to balance my time properly. Overall as much as I hated it at some points, lacrosse is one of the sole reasons I am who I am today which is why it is so important to me.
