Connie Williams, A.A.S., Professional Chef and Student of the University of the District of Columbia

I am Native Washingtonian. Who loves all the aspects of food.My first step in the food industry was D.C Central Kitchen’s culinary arts program where I obtained my food handler’s license in 1999. In December 2002, I earned my Associate’s degree in culinary arts from Strafford University. I am currently enrolled in the Nutrition and Food Science Program of the University of the District of Columbia where I am scheduled to earn a Bachelor of Science degree by 2014. I am a certified Master Gardener.
The road has never been easy for Connie Williams. Quitting is not part of my vocabulary. I love to volunteered with D.C. Central Kitchen, Fort Dupont Community Garden. I have also volunteer intern with the Department of Health’s Food Health Inspector Division where I had to

inspects restaurants and grocery stores to assure that food served and sold are safe for the public.
My journey towards economic independence has been rough, but taking things, a step at a time is important to maintain one’s confidence and inspiration to achieve one’s goals.
