License Instruction Schools

License Instruction Schools is the largest contractors license school in America. Established in 1982, we prepare literally thousands of people every year to take the exam.

Classes are offered throughout California. We prepare you for the Law and Trade exam and guarantee you’ll pass! Upon enrollment, your manual and audio App will be shipped to you so you can begin preparing while you wait for your state exam date. Then you will attend your 2-day class before the exam. It is eight hours each day. Typically, the first day will cover the Law part of your test and the second day will cover the Trade.

California Contractor State Requirements

Not everyone can get a California contractors license. You must have four years of experience in your trade. See Classifications for the trade classifications available. This experience must be within the last ten years or more if you served in the military during that time. This experience can be engaging in or supervising the trade. The State will accept self-employed experience, EVEN if it was in California without a license. If you don’t have the full four years required, college or trade school can count up to three years toward the four-year requirement.
