Founded in 1994, Convoy of Hope is a faith-based humanitarian organization dedicated to helping people facing hunger, poverty, and crisis. Its work centers on disaster response, children’s feeding programs, community outreach, and collaboration with churches, businesses, civic groups, and government partners. Through these combined efforts, the organization seeks to provide practical assistance while supporting long-term stability for vulnerable communities.

Convoy of Hope responds quickly to natural or humanitarian disasters. It delivers essential resources such as food, clean water, hygiene supplies, and other basic items to families affected by emergencies. When possible, the organization continues its involvement after the initial relief phase, helping communities recover and rebuild with dignity and resilience.

A key part of Convoy’s mission is addressing food insecurity through sustainable solutions. Its agricultural initiatives provide training that encourages responsible farming practices and improved production methods. These programs are designed to help individuals and families increase food access, strengthen livelihoods, and reduce dependence on emergency aid over time.

Convoy also invests in women and girls through focused empowerment programs. The Women’s Empowerment initiative works alongside women as they begin small businesses and support their households. Participants receive training in nutrition, health, hygiene, literacy, cooking, agriculture, and early childhood development. Expectant mothers are also supported with education that promotes healthy families. The Girls’ Empowerment program complements this work by teaching girls about self-worth, healthy decision-making, nutrition, and physical and emotional health, helping them plan for the future with confidence.

The organization operates with support from donated goods, financial contributions, and volunteers who donate their time and skills. This model allows Convoy of Hope to serve communities efficiently while maintaining accountability and stewardship.

Today, Convoy of Hope feeds more than 639,000 children worldwide every school day. It has empowered over 252,000 women and girls and provided agricultural training to more than 140,000 people. Since its founding, the organization has responded to more than 850 disasters in the United States and internationally. Convoy is recognized for its effectiveness and transparency, ranking number 27 on Forbes’ list of America’s Top 100 Charities.

The organization was founded by Hal Donaldson, whose childhood experience of receiving help after his father’s death shaped his commitment to service. Launched with a small group of supporters, Convoy of Hope began with local outreach events known as Care Days. Over the years, it has grown into a global organization serving people in more than 130 countries, reaching over 350 million individuals through consistent, compassionate action.
