Coralie Skinner

Weaver in Motuoapa, Turangi, New Zealand

Hi I'm Coralie.

Do you love to surround yourself with things that make you sing? If the answer is YES, then you will love the beautiful baskets I create out of harakeke (NZ Flax) as much as I love creating them.

While I continue to further my weaving skills with Master Weaver Veranoa Hetet, I love to indulge in my whimsical side, and weave beautiful baskets. Always being thoughtful and respectful of the age old techniques and traditions of weaving harakeke.

My weaving evokes a feeling of connection to past memories of people, place, time and emotion. I take pride in the fact that I have nurtured the fibre from it's very first growth to these unique and often colourful baskets.

I give thanks to three very special women in my journey - my mum Daphne, 1st tutor, Biddy and my present tutor, Veranoa Hetet from the Hetet School of Maori Art.

My weaving connects me to this land - 100% kiwi.

Please send me a message if you would like to talk to me further about my baskets.
