Corey Wells
Missionary in Oaxaca, Mexico
Corey, wife Kirsten, and two boys, arrived in Honduras in August of 2012. They work with existing churches and ministries in what they callTransformational Development. They strive to help address issues by providing awareness, training, and resources, usually to local church leadership, by working to build community infrastructure. This often involves creating community owned projects or by creating community initiatives. These projects are all created with community input and involvement in the construction, implementation, and maintenance of the project and/or initiatives. In all they do in a community, their desire is to show how a life committed to Christ (loving God and loving others) can change a community for the better in every aspect of living.
Prior to serving as missionaries, Corey worked for Corban University in Salem, OR, as Director of Communications for 7 years. During this time he served as a board member of Passion4People International and worked with several evangelism based ministries including the Reid Saunders Association and the Luis Palau Association using photography as a means of evangelism. Corey served with Christian Surfers of Oregon (a chapter of Christian Surfers U.S.) as a core leader establishing a group in the Salem area and led a Surfer's Bible Study for 6 years. Using surfing as a ministry, he traveled to Hawaii, throughout California, Oregon and Washington, and helped lead several community outreach events in Salem and along the Oregon coast. He has traveled to India, Mexico, and Honduras on short-term mission trips.
Corey and Kirsten are the founders of Mutatio Ministries, which exists to create lasting change in communities along the north coast of Honduras, primarily among the Garifuna people group. Their end goal for Mutatio Ministries is to turn it over to local Christians to lead. Until then, they will serve in this capacity and are excited where the Lord might lead them next to serve Him.
