Foxborough, MA
My passion in life is baseball. I grew up in Foxborough, MA as a fan of the Boston Red Sox. Ever since I can remember, my lifelong goal has been to work in the front office for a Major League Baseball team. Over the past years 6 years, I have worked in both collegiate baseball and retail to try and further my cognizance of how the two areas relate.
In May, 2013, I will be graduating from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Sport Management with a GPA of 3.65. My background includes sales and customer service (New England Patriots ProShop, Trophy Town Collectibles, and Red Sox Team Store), working as Student Manager for the U of MN Golden Gopher baseball team, and as the Assistant to the General Manager for the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League. These experiences have given me a broad understanding of retail sales and, most importantly, the ability to interact directly with people.
When I was thirteen, I wanted to help kids with leukemia and I raised $400+ to purchase MLB/NFL caps to help them cover their heads after chemotherapy. I convinced my principal to hold a “Caps On” day where students could wear caps in school for a small donation. After much perseverance, I finally spoke with the C.E.O. of Lids/Hatworld, who awarded a 40% discount. I sent the caps to Caps for Kids, who procured professional players’ autographs and distributed them to Children’s Hospitals. Another example of my leadership experience was as a Trumpet Section Leader in the Foxboro High School Jazz Ensemble, which had the honor of being selected by Wynton Marsalis to perform at the Kennedy Center in 2009 for the Obama pre-inaugural concert. I served as a mentor to several students.
Someday, I hope to use these skills, along with my knowledge and passion for baseball, to become a successful executive in the front office of a Major League Baseball team.
