No stranger to the world of pageantry and modeling, Mrs. Cori Magnotta began her modeling career at the age of 13 when she won the regional Elite Model Look of the Year competition in 1997. Her first pageant title came the following year when she was crowned Miss Galaxy Teen 1998. In the years that followed, Cori Magnotta obtained the titles of Connecticut’s National Teenager, Miss Connecticut Teen, Miss New England, Mrs. Connecticut, America’s Fit Mrs. 2016 and America’s Fit Queen 2017. Cori’s talent was a crowd favorite, a hula hoop routine to the song ‘Rock Around the Clock.’ Cori’s passion for hula hooping continues as she is currently a Certified FXP Hoop Fitness instructor and teaches hoop fitness several times a week in her hometown of Portland, CT. Despite her struggles with hypothyroidism, Mrs. Magnotta is determined to show the world that having fun with fitness is possible regardless of age or natural ability. Cori Magnotta used a weighted hula hoop to help her shed the 85 pounds she had gained during her pregnancy. This unusual weight loss method led to national media attention including articles in Women’s Health Magazine, Prevention Magazine and featured spots on local news affiliates of ABC, Fox and NBC Networks. Cori has used this attention to spread awareness about hypothyroidism, a disease that effects nearly 27 million Americans according to Cedars-Sinai hospital data. Hypothyroidism slows down nearly every cell in the body, making weight gain easy and weight loss nearly impossible. This does not stop Cori’s quest to be the best, most fit version of herself. Cori’s motivation comes from wanting to be as healthy as possible for her son, husband and those she inspires every week through her hoop fitness classes.
