Welcome to my page! My name is Corley, and I am a Texas native and a graduate student at Texas Christian University. I currently study communication and facilitate basic speech courses for undergraduates. I am also in the process of writing my Master's thesis on how individuals' self-construals affect the channels of communication they use to engage in face negotiation strategies.

My interest in Communication Studies began my freshman year of college after taking several courses, such as Communication Theory and Interpersonal Communication. I had previously enjoyed competing in speaking events, learning how to improve close relationships with friends and family, and better understanding those from different cultures, so this field of study really resonated with me. Over the years, I have loved how applicable my courses are for to day-to-day situations; it is a blessing to use my knowledge to help strengthen and encourage others to become more competent communicators.

It is probably no surprise I have a passion for teaching and training. My previous experiences include teaching English camps for Czech nationals four consecutive summers, mentoring college students on future career goals, investing in underprivileged children and enhancing their reading abilities, equipping undergraduate business students with professional presentation skills, training hospice volunteers on intercultural communication, and leading multiple meetings and presentations in both the classroom and corporate setting.

My leadership style is Steward, and my strengths, according to StrengthsFinder, include: Futuristic, Discipline, Context, Developer, and Empathy. I am an optimist and seek to bring out the best of any situation. I am also technically an ambivert, yet claim to be an INFJ on the Myers-Briggs scale.

Some of my hobbies include volunteering my time with children and senior citizens, consignment shopping, playing instruments and singing, blogging, engaging in intellectual discussions, editing, traveling, reading research articles (communication & psych particularly), trying new foods, and photography (see my Facebook link below).

After graduating, I desire to pursue a career in Human Resources and/or Training and Development. I am ecstatic about the future and the opportunities that await. In everything I do, I want to give all of the glory to God. He is the reason I am where I am today.
