Cornell Overbeeke

Well respected for his state-of-the-art skills in radiology, Cornell Overbeeke, M.D., M.S., continues to contribute to advancements in diagnostic and interventional radiology. Currently a staff physician in the Department of Radiology at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa, Dr. Cornell Overbeeke’s clinical and administrative responsibilities call on his advanced training with guided imaging tools such as fluoroscopy, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. This expertise gives him the ability to treat patients non-surgically with less risk and discomfort, and quicker recovery times.

Dr. Overbeeke’s experience and knowledge equally benefit the Iowa Health System, as he assists the organization in developing their capabilities in interventional radiology. With 15 years of entrepreneurial experience in the field, Dr. Cornell Overbeeke is well versed in teleradiology and is guiding the effort to develop a picture archiving communication system (PACS) to consolidate all aspects of image review and storing.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Overbeeke held the position of Director of Interventional Radiology at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois, where he led the development and expansion efforts of the unit for ten years. During his tenure, he continued to pursue his interest in scientific exploration. As part of a research team, he investigated the use of a conventional mammography unit with an add-on device to perform stereotactic core needle biopsies of non-palpable breast lesions. The results were published in the American Journal of Radiology. Dr. Overbeeke’s previous research papers have appeared in professional publications such as the Journal of Thoracic Imaging and The Journal of Infectious Disease.

A graduate of Rosalind Franklin University’s Chicago Medical School, Dr. Cornell Overbeeke excelled academically and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society, dedicated to excellence in both scholarship and ideals, with a mission to advance the highest standards of professionalism for the medical community. As a student, Dr. Overbeeke received honors in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry.
