Bringing more than a decade of experience in strategic communications, marketing, and organizational leadership to one of Iowa's most respected societies, I currently serve as a member of the Iowa Medical Society's executive leadership team.

Prior to joining IMS, I served as a part of the corporate communications team for one of the Navy's most specialized scientific communities. Before that, I was hand-selected by the Marine Corps to serve the Department of Defense as a lead journalism and public affairs instructor and team chief. Among my various assignments in this capacity was a deployment to Afghanistan to build and deliver a course of instruction to the nation's first corps of public affairs operatives. Prior to that, I served as a public affairs specialist based out of Okinawa, Japan, where I provided communications and media relations support for one of the fastest moving and most forward leaning special operations units in the U.S. arsenal as it conducted bilateral training exercises and humanitarian assistance operations throughout the Southern Pacific. I began my communications career serving as a staff writer and photographer, then editor, then press chief of a military newspaper serving the community surrounding the Marine installation at Barstow, Calif.

Some of my volunteer work includes serving as a member of the Rotary Club of Des Moines Communications and Special Events committees.
