Cosme Ribeiro Pulano, Jr., a Liberian, [birthed on April 14] is an accomplished communications practitioner, and an emerging screenwriter, film producer, and director. He earned a master’s degree in public administration from Cuttington University Graduate School and Professional Studies, located in Liberia. At the institution, he was elected President of the graduating class. He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Liberia. He has attained multiple film production and communication certificates.
Noticeably, during his professional sojourn, he worked for the Liberia Media Center and now the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs, Monrovia Liberia. At the Ministry of State, termed the Office of the President, Ribeiro serves as Communication and Media Officer. His duties include summary of local dailies for the President and his Cabinet; quarterly production of the President‘s magazine - ‘Executive Horn’; researching materials for speeches and talking points; serving as a member of government strategic communication team; and writing articles, amongst others. Today, there are publications on the internet and in hard copies that he either contributed to or wrote.
In 2015, he established Vision International Production that is contributing to the development of the nascent and underdeveloped film sector in Liberia. The production company completed three future films – Cosme wrote the screenplays and directed two of the films, amongst others. One of them, Hell's Gate, is the first feature film ever shot in Liberia about the deadly Ebola Virus Disease outbreak. The film goes beyond the making of just another independent movie. Successfully, through the viewing of “Liberia’s Lollywood”on CNN Inside Africa, the movie placed our emerging film industry on an upward trajectory.
In 2018, he was appointed to head the Liberia Movie Union’s (LIMU) elections commission. His drive for excellence took him to Egypt for film training and the 7th edition of the Luxor African Film Festival (2018). Later the same year, he resigned his post and travelled to Nigeria. In Lagos, Cosme studied Producing and ‘Production Management’ at PEFTI Film Institute where he earned an Award of Distinction (2021); and ‘Scriptwriting‘ and ‘Art, Business & Entrepreneurship’ at Terra Academy for the Arts (2023/24). In 2024, he obtained a ‘Film Academy’ certificate from Mount Zion Film Academy and certificate from Royal Arts Academy in ‘Directing’.
