What do I want to be when I grow up and why?
When I'm done with my time here at Washington State, I want to work in the school system; when I start out, I want to be a high school biology teacher, and then I plan on going back to school to get my doctorate so I can be a superintendent of a school district! I've been passionate about working with kids since a young age. Until taking this job here at Washington State, I worked for a company called Skyhawks, which is a summer sports camp for kids!
What is my favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on this campus is in Martin Stadium, right smack in the middle of one of the most passionate student sections in America. There is nothing quite like cougar football saturday, whether you enjoy football or not! The energy that Martin stadium gives off is like nothing else I have ever experienced, and I feel the same amount of excitement every time I hear all the students keys jingling right as the game is about to kick off (which is a tradition at every home game)!
What advice do I have for new students?
The most important piece of advice I have is to get involved! There are hundreds of different opprotunities to get involved in clubs or groups on or around campus, and doing so will enhance your Washington State experience like you wouldn't even believe. Diving head first into the different opprotunities this univeristy has to offer will help you achieve success and it will help ease the transition period that every new student experiences!
What advice do I have for new cougar parents?
The most important piece of advice I have for new parents is to try your very best to give your kids space. Trust me, they will miss you as much as you're going to miss them, but they need some space so they can figure out just exactly what it is they want to get out of their college experience! Something my mom and I did ( and still do:) ) that worked out great was talking on the phone a couple times a week at first, and then eventually once a week on Sunday's. Sometime between 2 and 3 every Sunday, we would find the time to talk, even if it wasn't for very long. This allowed us to stay close, but it forced me to try and figure out what I wanted out of my college experience, and that was incredibly beneficial for both her and myself.
A little bit about me...
My favorite book is any book that starts with the phrase "Harry Potter". I am a huge Harry
