I live and work in the Stamford St.Mary’s Ward and currently represent it on Stamford Town Council having previously been a member of South Kesteven District Council, representing the Stamford St.John’s Ward.

By profession, I am a Chartered Marketeer with thirty years experience of working in board level roles for blue-chip companies including emap, Frontline and the award winning Black Circles. As an independent marketing consultant I have worked for WHSmith, Tesco, Frontline and as an advisor to the British Retail Consortium and for the last five years have run by own consultancy, Stamford Brand Marketing working on behalf of local and national companies. (See my Linked-in profile)

In addition to my council duties, I am Chairman of"Stamford FIRST"(the Stamford Neighbourhood Planning Forum), and the founder of “Stamford – Protect Our Green Space”, a campaigning group which has successfully prevented the development of a number of Stamford’s precious green spaces and resisted the construction of 70 unwanted houses.

In 2020, I also founded “Connect Stamford”, a community group working in conjunction with Burghley House Preservation Trust, the Cecil Family Trust, SKDC and LCC to promote sustainable transport within and around the town.

I am also a committee member of the Stamford Civic Society and of the Stamford Urban Group, who do such great work round the town.

As your councillor my focus for St.Mary’s over the next year will be –

Campaigning to secure much needed additional parking for the town

Working with SKDC to ensure our streets are kept clean through a continuation of the BIG CLEAN

Supporting local businesses, particularly Stamford’s independent retail sector

Continuing to protect our town’s heritage including the preservation of the setting of Red Lion Square

Completing the Stamford Neighbourhood Plan

The creation of the Stamford Green Wheel and creation of Low Traffic Neighbourhoods in the town

It is a great privilege to be elected to represent your local community. Since I became a councillor in 2015 and started to work with the many local groups I am involved with, public service has become my vocation and a passion. The work of a councillor brings many frustrations, but those are outweighed by the a greater measure of satisfaction and fulfilment which comes with a job well done.
