Andy Maier

After 1 year at Emily Carr University and graduating top of his class from the 3 year Capilano University Graphic Design and Illustration program in 1992 Andy now has over 22 years of industry experience. Andy spent most of the 90’s as an independent designer and freelancer at Palmer Jarvis, Blue Suede Studios, Bullseye and Radiant Communications among others. From 2002 to 2007 Andy owned and sold his brand consulting firm Octopus Solutions. For the last 8 years he’s provided brand consulting and creative services for the sports industry and SMEs as COURAGEOUSb. In addition to his volunteer role with GDC/BC, Andy has volunteered with the Hospitality & Restaurants Division of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Langara Continuing Design Studies advisory board and the BC Epilepsy Society. He’s also a founding member of The Hot Charlottes who provide design leadership and help produce ‘Interesting Vancouver‘ annually.
In 2009, Capilano University awarded Andy their “40 over 40 Alumni of Inspiration” Award, honouring 40 of 60,000 alumni whose passion and achievements best reflect the University’s four decades (1968 - 2008) of exceptional services and community involvement.
Outside of work Andy explores life with his two amazing kids and is somewhat obsessed with photographing sunsets.
