Courtenay Wills
Hello all! My name is Courtenay Wills. I have a B.S. in Communications with a emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in English Technical Communication from Missouri Western University. I also hold a M.A. in Communication with my emphasis in Public Relations and English from Missouri State University. I am also a certified grant writer with the Grant Institute. I am originally from Kansas City, Kansas and after a 10 year hiatus I moved back to the Kansas City area in 2006 to be closer to family and friends.
I have worked in various roles in the education sector throughout my career. I have held positions in Alumni Affairs, College and Educational Foundations, Student Affairs, Public Information, Grant work, and of course, instruction. I am currently the Public Information Officer for a School District where I maintain the district website, develop publications, event planning, coordinate the mentoring program and assist with foundation affairs. Occasionally, I take on closed captioning jobs through the local media library.
In my spare time, teach online with the University of Phoenix which I really enjoy. My first experience as an instructor was during my Masters program. I enjoyed it so much that I became an adjunct faculty member for a Community College in Springfield, Missouri. After a few years of face-to-face instruction, I realized an ambition of mine was to teach online. I have always enjoyed online classes more than I have the traditional setting. With work, class and my personal life I particularly liked the convenience of doing my assignments on my own time. Welcome to my world :-)
