I’m Courtney R. Andrews, I consider myself to be an experimental artist who turned to film as a way to transition my knowledge and skills to the medium of film with aspirations of working in the film industry. I have been known possess a mature themed, curious and surreal introspective of reality which is considered my personal process of thought and thinking in to my work and exploring ideas based on Jung and Freud theory of psychoanalysis.
I watch a film almost every day, enjoying neo-noir, psychological and science fiction thrillers and over time I have grown an appreciation for director like, Steve McQueen, Christopher Nolan, Darren Aronofsky and Paul Thomas Anderson to name a few. I have a passion for telling stories and writing self-confined introspective ideas to express myself through different genres, challenging complex narratives. I continue my passion of mixed media fine art by experimenting with colleges, abstract paintings and illustration, drawing influences of artists such as Robert Rausenberg, Frank Aubach and Raoul Duffy to name a few.
In my spare time and continue to develop my athletic ability by recently taking part in gymnastics sessions. As a comic book enthusiast and have been collecting since I was young, enjoy reading graphic novels drawing to characters like the punisher, daredevil and batman and following the works of creative artist such as Alan Moore and Frank Miller. While enjoying visiting conventions and entering social events such as filmmaking technology (EVO), comic book (Comic con) and video game (E3).
As a recent graduate of Westminster University studying Contemporary Media Practice, I have gained experience and built practice in interdisciplinary media and so far I have successfully directed my first short film SASKIA (2013) about a man dealing with the absence of a loved one, tackling the issue of depression and will be submitted to film festival in the upcoming months across london and abroad. I am extremely ambitious, eager to learn and looking for an opportunity to build a career in filmmaking.
