Student in Ibadan, Nigeria
Alongside being a visionary and fourth-year medical student of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, I have interests which intersect at the nexus of social innovation and entrepreneurship, leadership and policy, with over 3 years experience in managing social impact projects. I founded Students on LinkedIn; a social enterprise at the forefront of helping university students capitalize LinkedIn profitably, while optimizing them for career development and workplace readiness; reaching 5M+ students in over 15 countries. I also convene The Congress NG; a platform dedicated to driving conversations about personal leadership towards national development, with a special focus on Nigerian campus circuits.
In the University of Ibadan, my engagements border around leadership, social impact and talent development. Alongside being a recipient of numerous local and national awards, I am a 2023 Fellow of The Carrington Fellowship of the US Consulate in Nigeria, and I have been featured in The Nation Newspaper, Nigerian Tribune among others. I led a team of 5 to win the 2023 Naija Policy Hackathon, and this saw me lead the presentation of policy recommendations to the Nigerian Student Loan Bill at the hearing of the Nigerian Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Student Loan Bill.
To brag a little, I am known to be one of many firsts. 4 days after my 20th birthday, I was recognized with the 2023 Princess Diana Award; the most prestigious accolade a young person aged 9-25 years can receive for their social action; emerging as the youngest Nigerian recipient, with a special mention from H.E Peter Obi. In May 2024, I was among the 6-man delegation that welcomed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex; Prince Harry and Princess Meghan during their inaugural visit to Nigeria. Also, I hold the record as the first medical student to be selected for the highly competitive Nigeria Higher Education Foundation Scholars' Program in the 20 years of the organization's inception; identifying me among the most talented and promising students in Nigeria.
Everyday, I think about how I can leverage the campus demographic in Nigeria through thought leadership and partnerships with relevant stakeholders, to incubate groundbreaking innovations that can contribute viably to the economic prosperity of Nigeria and Africa at large. This has earned me a number of appearances in various physical and virtual conferences across campuses in South-West Nigeria, notably TEDxOAU. Will you join me? Let's co-build.
