Cozmin Sime is a lyric baritone from Oradea, Romania. He studied piano from the age of 6 and later went on to study singing with Prof. Eleonora Pop at the National School of Arts. Cozmin received his masters degree from The Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca where he studied singing with Prof. Gheorghe Rosu. He also had further studies with Tom Krause, Barbara Bonney and Margreet Honig. He has received several national and international awards including 1st prize at the Mozart competition in Cluj-Napoca. He was also awarded Les Azuriales Karaviotis prize for the best performance of La competition des jeunes solistes, St.Jean Cap Ferrat, France 2009.
Cozmin made his opera debut in 2006 as Marcello in La Boheme at the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca and since then he has performed in opera houses and festivals around the world. Highlights include: The Mozart Academy in Aix-en Provence (2008), The Accademia Rossiniana Festival in Pesaro under Maestro Alberto Zedda (2009) , Schaunard in La Boheme at The Verbier Festival, Switzerland (2010), Barone di Trombonok in Il Viaggio A Reims at Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp, Belgium (2012) .
Recent performances include Figaro in Il Barbiere Di Siviglia, Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s Evgheny Onegin and Eustachio/Eduardo in L’assedio di Calais by Donizetti with English Touring Opera, Rodomonte in Orlando Paladino by Haydn, Antonio in Linda di Chamounix by Donizetti at Stadttheater Giessen and Dandini from La Cenerentola by Rossini with Opera Zuid. For the 2019/2020 season Cozmin will join the Staatstheater Kassel ensemble with roles including Silvio in I Pagliacci by Leoncavallo and Tarquinius in The Rape if Lucretia by Britten.
Future performances also include concerts in Dublin and Romania.
